Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Eloisa Wernet, I’m an interpreter and translator specialized in the fields of environment and human rights. My purpose is to make your oral or written message accessible for Spanish-speaking and English-speaking audiences.
Within my working languages you will also see French and Brazilian Portuguese, however, these are my C languages. This means that, even though I master them, as I’m not a native speaker, I rather translate and interpret from them into my mother tongues, which are Spanish and English.

I’m originally from Honduras, but I’ve been living in Spain for more than half my life. I suffer from what people call the (un)belonging: I am neither from here nor there, but I feel like I’m more from there than here. However, I think that one of the positive outcomes of this journey is that it allows you to see the world differently and to understand the hows, the whens and the whys.
Until quite recently, I thought that specializing in human rights was just a mere coincidence as I had been selected to participate as a translation intern at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, but little did I know that this path had been forging on its own for some time. When you are this sort of chameleon-like person, as I have been, and you live in oblivion within social hierarchy you are able to observe social injustices from a different perspective than everyone else.
With regards to my specialization on the environment, I would say that what pushed me to reconnect with nature was the tech-invasion in humanity that we have been living and that we continue to live in every single aspect of our lives. And, what better way than reconnecting with mother nature by contributing to its protection and preservation? That is why I pursued a master focused on environmental and sustainability translation.
In short, for me this job is not only about conveying words into another language, but rather cultivating a human bond that fosters understanding, empathy and respect.
